UGH, I JUST WANT TO RP, DAMMIT

You know how everyone is ABSOLUTELY 100% CERTAIN these two characters belong together and almost the entire fandom agrees? I feel like if I say to anyone outside my friends that I don’t ship them, I will get my head bitten off and my body beaten to a pulp for saying the characters in question are fine never becoming a couple and probably shouldn’t be.

Up until this point, I’ve only RPed OCs in original worlds. I’ve started up trying to get into RPs for fandoms though, but I don’t feel like I’m doing it properly. No one’s told me that I’ve been OOC, but it’s a nagging feeling in the back of my head that’s telling me I am. I’m afraid to join more fandom RPs because of it, for fear I might mess up in character and upset someone.

It’s true. Every time you have two characters meet for the first time, your first thread is always, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bump into you. Are you alright?”

There’s nothing like reading back old roleplays and cringing at your choice of wording or misspellings (dough-eyed, really, me?!), or just at the general sue-ness of some characters.

This abomination was found on Gaia (probably no surprise). It was my first forum RP in several years, and I was happy to find a plot that wasn’t sparklepires and demons and fairies and elves and aliens and nekos and whatever else. Submitted my profile. Got accepted in the same batch as this one. “Hey, someone’s willing to play the school bully. We have an antagonist. Cool,” I thought when I first saw the profile. Then the kid started posting and my boyfriend and I began arguing about who would shoot whom. A couple more of my favorite excerpts:
“The tantalizing woman threw back her crimson hair and let it shimmer behind her as she apathetically leaned back on one of the pillars in the entryway, as if completely unthreatened by the blonde.”
“The girl’s eyes glinted with red pleasure as she slithered away, beautiful and untouchable.”
And the group ate it up. Are we THAT hard-pressed for bad guys that suddenly a complete Jerkass Sue is the best thing that’s ever happened? Seriously guys, get some standards!
It ended well though. Jerkass Sue left before long - maybe her player saw my complaints on another blog, or maybe he got upset when my boyfriend’s character expressed that he thought she was unattractive (she just was NOT his type, physically or personality-wise; I don’t care how gorgeous you think she is, we’re allowed our own opinions!). The RP died a short time later, but not before we developed our characters just enough to have a good potential plot for an original story/universe, which we are now making not only a new RP of, but turning into a graphic novel.
We may well have a school bully inspired by Jerkass Sue in the first chapter, even - though unlike BadRPer McSuethor wanted to accept, I foresee her being put in her place before long.
